Every year, Vulcan Materials (the mining company that owns the land at the trailhead) gives access to the Fish Canyon trail a … It plays a great part for a more marvelously flowing waterfalls. A small percentage of the trail is on private corporate property (Vulcan Mining / Materials) and a small percentage of the trail is administered by the United States Forest Service however most of the property falls under the administration of the City of Duarte. When one have to use their hands and feet, you are almost there. A 4.8 miles (7.7 km) round trip hike provides access to the falls. Not to be confused with Fish Canyon Falls on the east end of the Angeles National Forest, the Fish Canyon Narrows reside on the far west end of the Angeles in the Sierra Pelona Mountains north of Santa Clarita. As the elevation changes nearly 2,000 feet from one end of the Canyon to the other, the weather and the stage of changing leaves can vary. This is truly devastating. It is located in the heart of Spearfish Canyon near the Savoy area. It has a 15-foot drop for the first tier about 10 feet for the second then about 50 down to the pool below. Prior to 2014, the falls were very difficult to reach due to the private Vulcan Materials quarry in the mouth of Fish Canyon, which required a long and exposed bypass hike over the neighboring ridge. Love Climbing Adventures, or LCA, is the only outfitter authorized by the U.S. Forest Service to offer ice climbing exhibitions at Fish Creek. Wonderful scenery along the trail. At the end of the trail there is a three stage water fall. From wildfires and rockfalls to access rights litigation and quarrying of the surrounding mountains, the area has seen a bit of it all.
